Sashi Kiru is a Splatoon OC originally created by Basalt in 2018, following the release of the Octo Expansion DLC for Splatoon 2. He has gone through a few design changes in the past, although his core appearance has not changed much. His original lore, however, matched the canonical lore of Octo Expansion better than it does currently.
His backstory underwent a heavy change in 2022, moving away from the canon lore into something more original and unique.
origins
Also known as Experiment #10,008, Sashi was genetically engineered to become the basis for the perfect Octarian soldier, an operation under the code name "Operation C-Drive". Once a loyal soldier of the Octarian Army, Sashi's eyes were opened after meeting Agent Three (also known as Marlon), and finding his way to the surface. Though he had to endure trials and tribulations to find his freedom, Sashi broke through the propaganda he had been fed his entire life and found a life for himself far away from war and suffering.
Nowadays, he is the proud captain of Inksurgence, a competitive team formed with previous experiments. Their team excels in Splat Zones specifically, utilizing team compositions that enable them to rush down opposing teams before they're able to fight back.

appearance
Sashi has a very sleek, lean figure with panther-like grace. He has dark umber skin, like the reddish-brown of seashells. His eyes are a deep violet, often compared to the color of the twilight sky. His natural ink color is dark-cobalt blue, and the tips of his tentacles are a tealish-yellow, similar to Marlon's natural ink color.
Sashi likes to keep his hair down, enjoying the free down. He dislikes how constrictive certain hairstyles can be. However, when it comes to battle, he enjoys twisting his hair into two large braids that go down to his shoulders.
He's a heavily scarred individual. His most prominent one is the one over his right eye, one on his left ear, and an x-shaped one of his ear. He also has a tattoo of "10008" on his back, which is why he wears long-sleeved clothing.

Sashi likes to wear a stealth mask over his face and longer-sleeved clothing. He is sponsored by Toni Kensa, so he exclusively wears their gear during battles. In casual wear, he likes to wear glassless glasses and more casual sweaters.

personality
While in the army, Sashi is focused and compliant. He doesn't disobey easily, not unless he is given reason to believe it would not end in him being punished. He doesn't hold much passion for anything, except when Agent Three goads him. After moving up to Inkopolis, he is still quiet, and seems hostile to those who don't know him. He's reserved, and likes to keep to himself most of the time. He speaks in short sentences, as he is still learning the language of Inklings. The only one able to pry him out of his shell is Marlon, who often translates for him.

After moving to Splatsville, Sashi incorporates more into the culture there. He becomes more arrogant, more hot-headed, though he still maintains his reservations. He's easily able to predict the flow of battle, and is a cruel and calculating battle genius. Win or lose, he loves the thrill of a fight.

biography
Sashi's parents are unknown. He was created in a lab through the gene splicing and tentacle grafting of two anonymous octolings: the last of Project C-Drive. By utilizing their DNA, he was grown in a test tube for about six months, before he formulated into an actual fry. He was born with a blue ink color, but it was quickly overriden with the color of the Octarian Army: a magenta-red.

Sashi was quickly made into a soldier. He was kept under heavy lock and key, unable to leave the laboratory he was made in unless given explicit permissions from Kleo or Nereus, the two scientists in charge of his creation. Sashi wasn't taught how to speak until he was four years old, causing him to have speech problems into the modern day. Once he turned seven, he was given to Malik and Marner, the twin generals. Under their tutelage, he was forged into well-oiled fighting machine. He was already being sent out on missions by the time he was ten, a quicker training pace than most others. His job underneath the twins was an assassin: to dispose of any enemies they ordered him to.
However, Sashi wasn't entirely alone in all of this. He was accompanied by three of experiments. Though they were less successful than he was, it wasn't like they were entirely useless. One of them, Kailana, was grafted from similar DNA to Sashi, and as such the two shared a closer connection.
adolescence
Although Sashi was not sent out to capture the Great Zapfish, he was made part of the main vanguard designated to protect the last stronghold before Octavio’s headquarters. He was 16 at the time, an active member of the army for ten years. Octo Valley had been invaded by enemy forces, and as such all of the active experiments were called into service.
The Valley was invaded—yes—but not by an army, by a rogue Inkling: Agent 3. Sashi and the other experiments were tasked with defending things from him. Agent 3 however broke through every defense the Octarians threw at him, eradicating an entire battalion by himself. It was basically guaranteed Sashi and his comrades would stop him in his tracks, invincible with their powers combined.
But as fierce as they were, Agent 3 was fiercer. He broke through their defenses—no mercy in his veins—and nearly killed Kailana and Thalsa. Sashi was the only one of the battalion who wasn’t sent to a respawn anchor. Agent 3 specifically kept him alive to send him back to Octavio with the message of the impending rescue of the Great Zapfish.

As 10008 and Agent Three, Sashi and Marlon had a very tense relationship. Marlon almost killed Sashi when they first met, only sparing him to send a message to Otavio that Marlon would rescue the Great Zapfish. From that day forward, Sashi was imbedded with a deep fear of Marlon and his abilities. The next time they met was after Sashi had abandoned the army, where he met Marlon again in Octo Valley. They fought again, but it was interrupted by them both falling into the Deepsea Metro.
During their time in the Metro, they started to grow closer and bond.
